Wicklow Writers Group

Hello All.
Thank you all for participating in our meeting this evening; it was fruitful and fun too. One way or another, I’m sure we had a consensus that some new ideas for our group meetings should be introduced. Martin suggested we try to garner a few ideas from other writing groups nearby. Some thoughts were:
- How they run their meetings.
- What activities outside of their meetings are undertaken by their group.
- Any other information that could help us in our meetings and membership drive.
Jacinta offered to check with the National Writers Group and glean information from them.
Martin suggested Irish Writers Site for a list of local writers groups; and also contact with Zandra from Avoca Writers and Bernie from Arklow Writers. Perhaps we could have a volunteer to do this?
Martin mentioned that he could make up some A4 flyers based on the back cover of ‘Fright Night.’ and has contacted our local library with thoughts of posting one of these on their notice board. In addition, meetings we could have in the library where our local community could be treated to a reading evening by our members.
There was talk of joining a community market, where we could each display our books and anthologies. Tess suggested a market – I missed the name so she can let me know in due course.
Richard suggested we make contact with Wicklownews.net
Peter said he would review the Wicklow Writers Blogspot and FB Page and report his findings. It was agreed that having a functioning blog and FB page was very important.
The meeting ended with Martin offering to put an essay paragraph onto our WA group from which each of us will write a story.
